UFN 53-54 Aftermath: 6 Fighters Poised For Mediocrity In 2015

Rick Story interested in fighting fellow UFC 167 winner Tyron ...

 Rick Story

Speaking of alternating wins and losses while not showing anything different, Rick Story is another fighter in that predicament.  It is hard to learn what is going wrong when you are inconsistent, especially when that equates to two split decision losses and one split decision win.  Those are possibly the hardest fights to learn from.  Rick Story has looked the same in virtually every fight.  He moves forward and throws bombs with the occasional take down.  If a fighter can manage to put pressure on him like Kelvin Gastelum or Demian Mia did they usually win.  Rick Story needs something, anything to add to his repertoire.  Something that is going to keep fighters guessing about what is coming next.  If he continues with his flat-footed stalking approach and throwing power shots some fighters will find a way to counter that strategy.  Some won’t figure him out and that will win him a few fights.  Chances are though, Story finishes out 2015 with another handful of wins and losses (if he recovers from his broken ankle in time).
