Tarec Saffiedine
If a fighter is going to be a one trick pony that one trick better be a finisher. Ronda’s arm bar and Dan Henderson’s H-bomb are prime examples of simple yet effective devastation. Tarec Saffiedine has one trick he does well, but it isn’t exactly a fight finisher. His leg kicks are excellent, but not on the level of Edson Barboza or Jose Aldo. If leg kicks are going to be a fighters specialty they had better cause a knee to buckle by the third hit, like Jose Aldo did to Frankie Edgar. If leg kicks are going to be a main weapon they need to be mixed up with other kicks as Donald Cerrone does. Tarec is good, but the best of the best at welterweight are not going to be susceptible to leg kicks and decision wins. The wrestlers will catch them and the strikers will counter them. Looking at the how that move basically won him the Strikeforce title, I don’t see Saffiedine changing his style. Expect him to pick up some wins against lesser opponents, but come unstuck again against the top contenders.
