Jan Blachowicz - Who next? - Sherdog Mixed Martial Arts Forums

Jan Blachowicz

I was really expecting a long drawn out brawl between Jan Blachowicz and Ilir Latifi.  Latifi is incredibly strong and just as durable.  It came as quite the shock when Jan blasted Latifi with a body kick and finished him in the first round.  His striking looked crisp, fast,  and powerful.  Announcer Dan Hardy was justified in his excitement to see Jan in The UFC.  Looking at his record he has a handful of submission wins, so he is not a one-dimensional striker.  I do know that if he wants to be an elite light heavyweight he will need to improve his wrestling.  With eight out of the top ten having wrestling as their base, it is just a given that he will have to improve that aspect of his game.  He needs a steady rise though, he cannot get overconfident and ask to be thrown to the wolves.  A gradual rise to the top will suit him best.  If he looks as good in his next few fights as he did this weekend the bottom of the top ten may have to make room for Blachowicz.
