Paddy Pimblett secured his 2nd first round finish in a row today at UFC Fight Night 204 in London, England as he submitted Rodrigo Vargas with a rear-naked choke.
Round One:
Pimblett with a side kick to the thigh. Now an inside leg kick. They exchange punches and Vargas lands a right hook that seems to stun Pimblett for a moment and he responds by trying to shoot for a takedown, but it’s Vargas who gets on top.
Half-guard for Vargas close to the cage and lands a couple of punches. More left hook land. Pimblett able to work up to his feet against the cage, but Vargas stays clinched up.
Suddenly Pimblett lands a trip takedown and gets to Vargas’s back quickly. he’s got his body triangle and then sinks in a rear-naked choke. He complains to the referee that Vargas is holding his gloves. Pimblett continues to crank on the choke and Vargas is left with no choice but to tap out at 3.49mins of the first round.
Pimblett reels off to celebrate, the home crowd goes wild, and soon afterwards Molly McCann gets in on the act too, heading into the Octagon with a Ukranian flag to celebrate alongside her teammate.
