Steve Garcia couldn’t wait to unleash his ruthless ground-and-pound tonight at UFC Fight Night 242 after transitioning on top of Kyle Nelson in the first round of their main card fight, and that soon led him to a TKO victory.

Round One:

Nelson presses forward and under pressure Garcia stumbles to the mat. Nelson takes full advantage of that as quickly gets to Garcia’s back.

Nelson working off his back here with his hooks in as he lands a few punches while trying to set up a rear-naked choke opportunity.

Good job from Garcia to suddenly turn into Nelson to end up top, but then gets close to being caught in armbar attempt from Nelson. Garcia able to get free from that though and immediately starts landing ground-and-pound.

Now Garcia grinds his elbow into Nelson’s face. Garcia then blasts him with big ground-and-pound punches and elbows and Nelson is dazed from that onslaught.

Nelson’s able to just hang on in there enough to keep the fight going though. Garcia is eager to land more blows though and starts to unleash, leading to a big elbow to the temple that slumps Nelson over onto his side on the mat covering up, which soon after forces the ref to step in to award Garcia the TKO victory at 3.59mins of the opening round.
