Dustin Hazelett vs Josh Burkman, Ultimate Fighter 7 finale
Hazelett had somewhat mixed fortunes in the UFC, but he’ll always be fondly remembered for his creativity and technical flair when it came to submissions.
Never was that more apparent than against Josh Burkman at the TUF 7 Finale. Initially he used a whizzer to take Burkman down, but then blew everyone’s mind by stepping over and using that overhook to roll into an armbar attempt – not quite a flying armbar, but in the heat of the moment it was just as breathtaking.
This beautiful display of technique and athleticism was then rewarded as he continued to crank on the submission to earn the tapout finish.
Not only was the move a no-brainer for ‘Submission Of The Night’, it also went on to be declared the ‘Submission Of The Year’ for 2008.
