A fight between Macy Chiasson and Aspen Ladd that had been scheduled to c-main event tomorrow night’s UFC On ESPN 27 event in Las Vegas has had to be pulled from the card on short notice.
It’s believed that the 29-year-old Chiasson withdrew from the fight due to an as-yet undisclosed injury, with her frustrated opponent having since confirmed the news on social media that the bout is off.
“@macychiasson has pulled out on weigh in Eve,” Ladd wrote on Twitter. “This absolutely blows. Who wants to see me fight @mieshatate?”
Due to the short notice nature of Chiasson’s withdrawal, the UFC appear not to be seeking an alternative opponent for Ladd, and so the event now proceeds with an 11-fight card that’s headlined by a bantamweight bout between the returning TJ Dillashaw and Cory Sandhagen.
Chiasson had been heading into the fight off of back-to-back wins against Shanna Young and Marion Reneau, but hadn’t fought in over a year.
Meanwhile, Ladd was set to return after a long layoff due to suffering tears to both her ACL And MCL back in late 2019. Despite her long absence, Ladd her remained ranked at No.3 in the women’s bantamweight division, while Chiasson is lower down the ladder at No.9.
