Sunday night’s UFC Fight Night 126: Cerrone Vs Medeiros event drew an average of 893,000 viewers on FOX Sports 1.
As such, that’s somewhat higher than 2017’s average of 795,412 viewers for shows of the same kind on the channel.
That’s not bad going considering that Sunday’s show was going up against stiff competition in the shape of the Winter Olympics and an NBA All-Stars game at the same time.
However, the most interesting statistic is that, despite only being the opening bout on the main card, it was actually Sage Northcutt’s bout with Thibault Gouti that delivered the peak rating for the event, with 1,078,000 viewers tuning in to see the 21-year-old emerge with a unanimous decision victory.
In addition, the prelims for the card did 675,000 viewers, which is slightly up on last year’s average of 634,929 viewers.
Meanwhile, despite leading with another high-profile bout between Matt Mitrione and Roy Nelson from the opening round of it’s heavyweight grand-prix, Bellator 194 only mustered 476,000 viewers on Friday night over on the Paramount channel (formerly Spike TV).
That’s a hugely disapppointing showing for the company, with Mitrione Vs Nelson only peaking with 775,000 viewers, comparing to 1.34 million for Bellator 192’s main event between Chael Sonnen and Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson.
