A heavyweight between Curtis Blaydes and Jairzinho Rozenstruik is rumored to be in the works for UFC 266 on September 25th.
Blaydes was closing in on title contention recently after having won four fights in a row, defeating the likes of Justin Willis, Shamil Abdurakhimov, Junior dos Santos and Alexander Volkov along the way.
However, a KO loss against ‘The Black Beast’ Derrick Lewis in February proved to be a significant setback, though he still holds an overall 9-3 (+1nc) record in the UFC and is ranked No.4 in the division, so the 30-year-old could quickly find himself back in the title hunt with a win here.
As for Rozenstruik, after a lackluster performance during a decision loss against Ciryl Gane back in February, he managed to right the ship earlier this month when he TKO’d Augusto Sakai late in the first round.
That continues the trend of Rozenstruik having finished all six of his UFC wins so far via strikes, leaving the former kickboxer ranked at No.6 in the division.
Blaydes vs Rozenstruik joins a UFC 266 card that will be fronted by two title fights, with 205lb champ Jan Blachowicz taking on Glover Teixeira, while 145lb kingpin Alexander Volkanovski fights his rival TUF 29 coach Brian Ortega.
