UFC 260 Suffers Another Fight Cancellation Due To Covid-19

UFC 260 recently lost it’s co-main event featherweight title fight between Alexander Volkanovski and Brian Ortega after the champion tested positive for Covid-19, and now another bout has had to be cancelled as the disease continues to take it’s toll.

This time it’s a preliminary card fight between Shane Young and Omar Morales that’s been called off due to ‘Covid-19 protocols’.

It should be noted that Young is a teammate of Volkanovski, so it’s likely in relation to that, although it’s not clear at this stage whether Young has also tested positive or is just having to self-isolate due to having been in close contact with the featherweight champ.

It’s been a frustrating time for the City Kickboxing team out of New Zealand as Brad Riddell, who is also Volkanovski’s striking coach, missed out on his UFC On ESPN 21 co-main event spot opposite Gregor Gillespie last weekend due to Covid as well.

With all that in mind, another concern for the UFC will be that another fighter Jamie Mullarkey also trained and travelled with Volkanovski to this event, so his UFc 260 main card fight against Khama Worthy could also be in jeopardy.

As things stand the UFC 260 card only has 10 fights remaining on it and four confirmed for the main card, so they can ill-afford to have any more fall-outs in the coming days.
