UFC Fight Night 238 In March No Longer Taking Place In Saudi Arabia

UFC Fight Night 238 on March 2nd had been set to mark the promotion’s first ever event in Saudi Arabia, but it’s been reported that ‘the powers that be’ in the region were unhappy with the quality of the card and as such new plans are in the works to put on a show there in June instead.

The event hadn’t yet been given a headliner, but other bouts on the card had included the likes of Jairzinho Rozenstruik vs. Shamil Gaziev, Muhammad Mokaev vs. Alex Perez and Eryk Anders vs. Jamie Pickett.

UFC officials may well have been struggling to add star power to the line-up given that they are still in the midst of attempting to build a stacked card for UFC 300 in April, but also have a run of 10 events in 10 weeks without a break planned in the lead up to that per-per-view, which also includes a well stocked UFC 299 PPV on March 9th.

As such there is a real risk of the promotion stretching themselves too thin, and the Saudi Arabia postponement is the first clear sign of that becoming a reality.

At this stage it’s unclear if UFC Fight Night 238 will still take place at another destination (more than likely their own APEX facility in Las Vegas), or if they’ll decide to scrap the show entirely and reassign the currently scheduled fighters to help bolster some of the other events they have planned.
