Gray Maynard Vs Teruto Ishihara Set For TUF 25 Finale

A featherweight fight between Gray Maynard and Teruto Ishihara has been announced for the TUF 25 Finale in Las Vegas on July 7th, just one day prior to UFC 213 during International Fight Week.

A former TUF veteran who fought Frankie Edgar twice for the lightweight title, Maynard’s career has been on a downward trajectory for several years now, recording just two wins in his last nine fights.

The 37-year-old did briefly break free of a four-fight losing streak last year with a unanimous decision win over Fernando Bruno, but lost on the scorecards to Ryan Hall at the tail-end of the year.

Ishihira doesn’t have Maynard’s vast experience in the Octagon, but he has compiled a 2-1-1 record so far after making it to the promotion as a finalist on the Road To The UFC: Japan reality show.

So far Maynard Vs Ishihara is one of only two fights attached to the TUF 25 Finale show, with the other being Elias Theadorou vs Brad Tavares.

Today’s announcement comes on the same day that the latest edition of TUF premieres on FOX Sports 1, with a cast of former castmembers from The Ultimate Fighter show battling out for a second chance to compete in the Octagon.
