Dennis Hallman has been released from the UFC after his failure to make weight for his lightweight fight with Thiago Tavares which was scheduled to take place tonight at ‘UFC On FX 5’.

Hallman is believed to have been as much as 7lbs overweight, and given that he also failed to make the lightweight limit against John Makdessi back in December of last year, that was the final straw for the UFC.

The fighter has since revealed that he’s going through some personal problems at the moment which he’s informed UFC president Dana White about, and apparently he was sympathetic enough about it to give him both his ‘show’ money and his win bonus.

Hallman hopes that once he gets himself together and gets a couple of wins on the regional circuit under his belt that he’ll make his way back into the UFC, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see about that.

The 36 year-old leaves the promotion with a 3-2 record from his latest stint, though if you include all the other times he’s cropped up in UFC events over the years his overall record in the Octagon is 4-5.
