A bantamweight fight between Frankie Edgar and Cory Sandhagen has been targeted for the UFC Fight Night 187 event on February 6th at a destination still to be confirmed, but likely to be Las Vegas.
Edgar and Sandhagen had previously been scheduled to fight in January of this year, but the bout was scrapped when ‘The Answer’ accepted an ill-fated short-notice bout against ‘The Korean Zombie’ Chan Sung Jung instead, which he’d lose by a first round TKO.
The 39-year-old Edgar has since made his bantamweight debut against Pedro Munhoz back in August and emerged with a split decision victory.
As for Sandhagen, he’s fought twice in 2020, starting with a submission loss to Aljamain Sterling in a June title eliminator that ended his five-fight unbeaten start to his UFC career.
However, Sandhagen has responded positively by racking up a second round TKO victory against former title contender Marlon Moraes a couple of months ago, which leaves him ranked No.2 in the 135lb division – 3 spots ahead of Edgar at No.5.
Edgar vs. Sandhagen joins a UFC Fight Night 187 card that already features the likes of Allistair Overeem vs. Alexander Volkov, Macy Chaisson vs. Marion Reaneau, Beneil Dariush vs. Diego Ferreira and Michael Johnson vs. Clay Guida.
